This policy covers the SiftFirst Chrome extension: a candidate collector that lets you gather candidate text while browsing and save it into a screening in your SiftFirst account. It supplements the main SiftFirst Privacy Policy at https://siftfirst.com/privacy, which governs everything that happens in your account after a save.
1. What the extension collects
- Content you explicitly choose: the text you select on a page, the block you click with the element picker, or the page's readable text when you press Grab main content. The extension never reads a page until you trigger one of these actions.
- The address (URL) and title of the page a collection came from, kept as the source label of that candidate.
- Your SiftFirst sign-in: your email and password are sent once to siftfirst.com to obtain a session token; the extension stores the token, never the password.
2. Where that data lives
- Collected candidates wait in local extension storage on your computer (chrome.storage.local) until you press Save to Sift.
- When you save, the collected text and source labels are sent over HTTPS to your own SiftFirst account at siftfirst.com, and from then on the main Privacy Policy applies. Screening, scoring, and any AI processing happen in the SiftFirst app, not in the extension.
3. What the extension does not do
- No browsing-history collection: it does not log, track, or transmit the pages you visit.
- No background reading: content is accessed only at the moment you ask, on the page you are looking at.
- No analytics, no trackers, no ads inside the extension.
- No selling of data, and no sharing with anyone other than the SiftFirst service you are signed in to.
4. Why the extension asks for its permissions
- storage: keeps your session token and the not-yet-saved candidate pile on your device.
- activeTab and scripting: read the selection, picked block, or main text of the current page at the moment you trigger a collect action.
- contextMenus: the right-click option Collect selection with Sift.
- sidePanel: the extension's user interface opens as a browser side panel.
- tabs: records the source URL and title of the page you collected from.
- Access to all sites: candidates appear on job boards, applicant-tracking systems, webmail, and company pages, so the extension can run on any site you choose to use it on. It still reads nothing until you trigger it.
5. Removing your data
- Uninstalling the extension deletes the local pile and your session token from the browser.
- Candidates you saved to your account can be deleted in the app (delete a screening in History, or delete your whole account under Account, which erases your data as described in the main Privacy Policy).
6. Chrome Web Store user data policy
The extension's use of information received from Google APIs and the browser adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements: collected data is used only to provide the candidate-collection feature you invoked, and for no other purpose.
